Wind and Window Flower
by: Robert Frost

Lovers, forget your love,
And list to the love of these,
She a window flower,
And he a winter breeze.

When the frosty window veil
Was melted down at noon,
And the caged yellow bird
Hung over her in tune,

He marked her though the pane,
He could not help but mark,
And only passed her by
To come again at dark.

He was a winter wind,
Concerned with ice and snow,
Dead weeds and unmated birds,
And little of love could know.

But he signed upon the sill,
He gave the sash a shake,
As witness all within
Who lay that night awake.

Perchange he half prevailed
To win her for the flight
From the firelight looking-glass
And warm stove-window light.

But the flower leaned aside
And thought of naught to say,
And morning found the breeze
A hundred miles away.

1)How is weather used in the poem? Weather is used in this poem by comparing the window flower and the winter breeze.
2)How does the poets knowledge of weather enhance the poem? The poets knowledge of weather enhances the poem by making it more descriptive. For example, "he was a winter wind, concerned with ice and snow." This line means that the wind during the winter is cold and really icy.
3)What type of weather is discussed? The type of weather that is most discussed is wind.
4)Would the poem be the same without the mention of weather? The poem would not be the same without the mention of weather because the whole poem is about wind, breeze, winter, and flower. Without weather mentioned, the poem would make no sense or wouldn't even be a poem.
5)What literary techniques are used in the poem regards to the weather? There are so many literary techniques used in the poem regards to the weather. Though there are so many, the most important one is personification. Personification because the author gives the flowers and breeze human qualities. For example, it says the "she is a window flower, and he is a winter breeze.
6)Does this poem further your knowledge about weather? This poem does further my knowledge about weather because you can learn how the winter breeze acts, looks, what it sees, etc. You can even learn how the flower grows near the wind, acts, looks, etc. It even describes the movement of wind and the window flower!

Kites

Recently, we made kites in class for the new unit "Weather." Then we went outside to make them fly. My kite flew when I ran with it but then if I stopped, it came to the ground. We used Local Wind to make our kites fly. There are two types of breezes, for night and for morning/afternoon. The first one is sea breeze, which occurs in the morning or afternoon. Sea breeze is when the warm air from the land goes in air/clouds, then the cool air from the water goes on land. The second one is land breeze, which occurs at night. Land breeze is when the cool air from the land goes near water and then the warm air from the water goes in air/clouds. In order to make my kite fly good, I could've changed the size or shape of it. This experiment of kite was really good and really fun!

Weather and Climate

Weather is a mix of events that happen each day and is all around us. We see it change every day and night. If there was no weather, then can't you imagine how different it would be with the same temperature. I would never like that, and it would be so annoying because it would be the same temperature everyday. Weather is a normal pattern for climates. Weather is what you are living with. There are about 168 different types of weather. Some are: Rain, Snow, Hail, Shower, Sunny, Fog, Cloudy, Thunderstorms, Hurricanes, Blizzard, etc. The most common are Rain, Snow, Sunny, and Cloudy.
